Weekly Question!

We are continuing our series on bullying of kids with disabilities. What else should school districts do to prevent the serious problem of bullying?

  1. I was really surprised to see that boys are bullied more than girls. I would have thought it was the other way around. I think that school districts, for the most part, are trying to deal with the situation of bullying. Educating everyone on bullying and helping all to feel good about themselves, even with their differences, I think will help.

    2. I’ll start by using Mahatma Gandhi words: “Be the change you want to see in the world.” If we want to see an end to bullying and so much dishonesty, we need to start by being a role model ourselves. We must teach our kids since early stage about mutual respect, tolerance, and acceptance. We must start by changing one individual at a time and the first one must be ourselves. Also, I believe that school district should have very strict policies regarding bullying and how to penalize bullies. They should have a zero tolerance policy with consequences that may set a precedent and may deter future bullying incidents.
