Weekly Question!

Due process hearings is the forum for resolving special ed disputes before going to court. These hearings are currently under attack, but Professor Weber's new law review article defends due process hearings. What do you think? Have you had a due process experience. Leave a comment but please no names!

  1. I have never been in a due process hearing, but have read several case studies involving them. From what I can gather, due process hearings are necessary, but in some cases I've read, it seems that there's an underlying question as to who is responsible for what, and whether the state or the federal government has the final say in deciding a case. I am not knowledgeable about this process at all, but enough to know that I don't want to be involved in a due process hearing if I can help it!

  3. I have heard alot about due process, although I have not been involved in one. I hope I never have to be involved in a due process. I would like more information that would be helpful, in case of a due process, for example; notes on the note page of the IEP, what could I do as a Special Education teacher to better ensure I am accurately writing the IEP?
